To increase the mode share of walking and cycling to school and reduce congestion, emissions and health risks associated with car dependency.
Solution
To provide walking/scooting and cycling infrastructure on key access routes to schools, such as footpaths, cycle lanes, crossings, traffic calming measures, etc. To provide "front of school" treatments that enhance access to the school grounds, such as drop-off zones, bike parking, signage, etc. To expand the amount of bike parking available at schools. To engage with schools and communities through the Green-Schools Programme to raise awareness and encourage behaviour change.
