To provide a safe, accessible and attractive recreational facility for the local community and visitors, and to promote active travel, health and well-being. To restore and enhance the historic Ulster Canal and its environment. To foster cross-border cooperation and integration through shared green infrastructure.  

Solution

To develop a greenway along the disused canal towpath, using existing bridges, locks and canal houses as features. To provide signage, waymarking, seating and parking facilities along the route. To secure funding from various sources, including the EU INTERREG VA programme and TII. To collaborate with stakeholders from both sides of the border to plan and implement the project
