Challenge / Goal
The main challenge for Luas was to provide a fast, reliable and sustainable mode of transport for the growing population and traffic congestion in Dublin, while minimizing the environmental impact and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the city.
Solution
The solution was to design and build a modern light rail system that would integrate with the existing public transport network, such as buses, trains and taxis, and offer a high-quality service to the passengers. The system would also use low-emission vehicles, renewable energy sources and smart ticketing systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance efficiency.
