Challenge / Goal
It unifies traveling in a growing region, where previously regional transport was organized largely in "silos". Additional means of transportation, like water buses, private mobility services were not available. Also cross-municipal traveling suffered from lack of single travel & ticketing experience.
Solution
PayiQ developed based on its platform a system, which allows multi-model travel (public and private, different transportation means) to be combined into single experience - single ticket, payment and transaction. Later this has grown into a system to allow also event tickets (like sports competitions) to be included in this ticketing. It encourages people to use public transport and also promotes these additional services (events).
In brief, the system offers smart single transaction based mobility & event access. After successful roll-out in Turku, surrounding municipalities joined and overall regional public transport becames easier and cheaper too, especially in surrounding municipalities. It also encouraged the use of public transportation services.
